Java professional development ideas?
My school is thinking of putting on a series of talks about some more advanced concepts of Java and software development, and we're looking for ideas of things that students need to know to be successful software developers and software engineers, that they may not necessarily learn in school. A Preliminary list of topics includes:
- Swing/JavaFx/UI design
- Concurrency/Threading
- Java EE and enterprise level solutions
- Version Control Systems (CVS/SVN/git)
- Web development and scripting (Glassfish and Groovy on Grails)
- Managing software projects (Apache Maven)
- Mobile Development (Java ME/Android/ SunSpot)
Times and dates are in the planning stages, and we welcome more ideas. What techical essentials do students need exposure to?
