Thanks to an academic cooperation agreement, students and professors from the Computer Engineering will able to interact with all the open source technologies.



With a tech talk, where students and professors of the Computer Engineering career from Universidad Andrés Bello Gran Concepción Chile, SUN Microsystems announced the scope of the cooperation agreement between both entities, to deliver to young people the necessary tools in terms of technological innovation.

Students from UNAB, may take SUN courses within the contents of the subjects of their academic mesh, which allows them to access international certifications by taking the online course for free and with support from their teachers.

Lilian Saint Martin, Director of Computer Engineering and Computer Science, says that in the benefits is access to software tools, technology courses, training for the use of OpenSolaris and development in Java programming language in addition to participating in the communities of users for research. En esta nota, simplemente quiero invitarlos a leer la nota de nuestro querido ambassador Chileno de la Universidad Andres Bello - sede Concepción, Felipe Cerda.

En su curiosa nota publicada en su blog, cuenta como fue a dar una charla a la universidad, y se encotró con un nuevo laboratorio con más de 42 Sun Rays lista para ser usadas por alumnos y profesores de la facultad.

Según él pudo averiguar, este laboratorio, reemplaza a un ex laboratorio de PC's, y va a ser utilizado para las materias de programación y sistemas operativos de la carrera de ingeniería (pueden virtualizar tanto Windows, Linux como Solaris en cada puesto de trabajo, hecho ideal para investigar a fondo esta temática) pero además es un laboratorio de uso múltiple para perosnas de las diferentes carreras de la universidad (Al loguearse los alumnos eligen que sistema operativo usar, o bien que herramientas necesitan ejecutar)
