I agree with David but the next question is what is it that you really want to do with it? I have a small Sony video camera, a DRC HC 20 Handycam that did the job this summer. Although I didn't take it all the way to the top of Mount Sabalan, we have some good shots of our climb to Tochal. The camera was about 500 dollars and I bought it very, very quickly before the night my daughters and wife departed for their summer vacation. Most of the videos look really good but you want to make sure not to turn the night or indoors button when outdoors. This happened on a few shots and the video comes out kind of bright, but that's an operator error. All other video look wonderful. I've not tried any editing. If you have a home PC, I hear Pinnacle Studio 9 is a good editor. I've not tried it myself. I'm not sure about editors for the Linux or Mac X operating systems but would really like to get the time to find out.
