I love the coast
Had a great bike ride - Started from Santa Cruz... Had coffee in a nice cup of coffee and a pumpkin muffin in a little coffee shop. Went up the Swanton road loop, up and then back down. Started to head north on the coast again. A nice headwind made me change my mind, so I turned around and did 40.

Made a stop to get some fresh cherries on the roadside before finishing off at a little Mexican resturant.

Why does your bike ride read like a restaurant review? I didn't think exercise was supposed to involve so much food.

The fun part of long distance (endurance) bicycling, is that a very VERY important part is eating. Second only to drinking (water - or a sports drink during the ride, I won't comment about after the ride)

It boils down to you can be burning upwards of 700-1000 Calories/hr of effort, and if you aren't eating you will hit the dreaded BONK. What is a bonk - it is when your blood sugar drops below an acceptable level and you literally can not move anymore.

Being a diabetic I am much more vulnerable to the bonk because I can't go and carbo load as effectively prior to the ride - so I have to really REALLY rely on eating during the day.
