Any way to see what's in the fw fixes?

Or more importantly if the fw allows zfs to play better with the StorageTek arrays.

Page 33 of the 6.5 release notes (http://dlc.sun.com/pdf/821-0126-10/821-0126-10.pdf) lists the notable updates/fixes to the firmware included in this release. Most of these changes are specific to supporting the upcoming replacement for the 6140. One significant new feature is support for 8GB FC.

As far as playing better with ZFS, I'll review the link you included and try to comment. Note that from a CAM perspective, we are mostly focused on the management path and not the data path of the device.

Does this version support the VMware initiator type for the 2540?

Thanks

Although the CAM 6.5.0 release included firmware that supports this initiator type the CAM UI was not updated to expose this. CR 6884031 has been filed about this issue.

A workaround to the VMware initiator hosttype issue is to use the Linux hosttype and change the AVT setting.

Thanks for the update on the VMware situation Owen.

A couple of questions if I may:

Do you know if CR 6884031 will be fixed in the next release? If so, when is that scheduled for release?

I currently set the host type for my VMware ESX servers to Linux. What needs to be done to change the AVT type? Is this an operation that can be done while the array is "live" (i.e., when the mapped LUNs are in use) or do I need to schedule downtime?

Many thanks for your help.

6884031 should be fixed in the next release. I'm still trying to get an answer to your other questions.

Thanks for your reply Owen. Will look forward to the next release...

Do you have any timescales for the next release?

Thanks.
