One of my favorite genres of music is "nerdcore", which is basically rap music done by nerds/gamers and contains many references to technology, games and computer code. There is a movie called "Nerdcore Rising" which follows this underground scene and sheds light on a rising tsunami of nerd culture that I am, quite frankly, most comfortable in. I would love to see this and need to figure out how to get a screening here in NoVA.

Here is the video trailer for the movie but WARNING: You may not want to see while at work, or if you do put headphones on, as there are a couple of "4 letter words" in the trailer :)

NERD HO!

Is MF Doom considered nerdcore?

@ Xander Crews: No, MF Doom is not nerdcore. Nerdcore specifically delves in the lives of the technology oriented listener, the game culture, internet culture, etc. Even if entire songs don't deal with technology, there will almost always be a reference to tech or games within the song. MC Chris's "PWOM" is about trying to get to a party, which he misses, but makes a reference to the game Centipede. Nerd has to be a focus to be nerdcore.
