Project Darkstar has gone open source!
Today is a very special day here at Sun Microsystems, and especially for the Project Darkstar team in Sun Microsystems Laboratories. Project Darkstar has been open sourced today and is available for immediate download!
Project Darkstar is the video game industry's ONLY enterprise grade, highly scalable, fault tolerant, open source server solution available today. Designed from the ground up to be flexible, Project Darkstar can be used for virtually ANY type of online game. From card games to real time strategy games, turn based to full blown MMOGs, Project Darkstar is designed to handle them all.
Sun Microsystems will be at the Austin Game Conference next week with a booth on the show floor. We will have the Project Darkstar team on hand to answer any questions attendees have, we will have partners in the booth demonstrating how their companies are using Project Darkstar and we have a theater in the booth where we will be delivering presentations, each 20 minutes in length, from Sun and our partners all day Thursday and Friday during the expo hours.
For more information about Project Darkstar, visit the Project Darkstar Community site at http://www.projectdarkstar.com.
Make sure you also check out the Project Darkstar article on the Sun Labs site.

Would you consider changing the project name to something like 'Brightstar' or 'Supernova' that would better associate with Sun and bequeath the Darkstar name to the evil empire in Redmond?
