On March 22, 2006, Sun Microsystems will be at the Game Developers Conference (Booth 1510) demonstrating a new technology that has been under development in Sun Labs for some time now. Known as "Project Darkstar", we believe that the technology we have developed could revolutionize the on-line game industry.

The brain child of Jeffrey Kesselman and helmed by Karl Haberl in Sun Labs, Project Darkstar seeks to eliminate many of the major issues that game developers face when looking to develop an on-line video game. We believe that game developers should do what they do best: make great games. Today, game companies who seek to build an on-line game are expected to become experts in network technology, scalable architectures, database performance tuning, etc. when they should be applying those resources to building story, characters, environments and gameplay.

Witness the revolution in on-line games by heading over to ProjectDarkstar.com on the 22nd of March to get your hands on the early access SDK and try it out for yourself.

Leaving you with one last bit of info. A developer who is the first to use the technology had this to say:

Our experience has been excellent with DarkStar and it is working great right "out of the box"

See their game in our booth at GDC!
