As promised here they come... Changing host name(killing off unknown)

unknown is a great name for a system isn't it? I suppose that allows for total anonymity on a network if all your (DHCP driven) Solaris 10 boxes are called the same thing. This also makes figuring out which server is what, as well as separate domain names impossible.

There may files the you can change to set your host name, some work most don't.  Here's what I found works best:

$ vi /etc/nodename
<this is where you put your desired host name> 
$ init 6

When it comes back up your brand Solaris 10 install will have what ever host name you wish!
