Bearish on Longhorn

Just talking to my pal Doc Searls, and he's pointed out to me that Microsoft's Longhorn is in trouble. I especially like the penultimate paragraph, where Doc says:

"...what we're seeing here is Jupiter's admission that the Sun is the center of the Solar System. The Sun in this case is the Internet, and the fact that all of us have our own space ships, and can live and work wherever we want. We don't have to stay on the biggest planet any more."

This isn't the first time MS has tried to do too much with its Operating Systems. NT4 was supposed to be this uber Win95, with the stability of NT351 and the speed and flexbility of Win95. Instead it was just the Win95 explorer tacked onto NT351. Same deal with Win2k, it was supposed to have PnP capabilities, work with tons of hardware out of the box and have all these cool features. Instead PnP kinda sorta worked, and graphically it had little over NT4. That's why I'm not surprised that Longhorn isn't going to be all that its cracked up to be
