2006 IBM Uptown Classic 10K

Tuesday Oct 03, 2006

On Sunday 1 October 2006 I ran the 2006 IBM Uptown Classic 10K in Austin, Texas. With a 2 mile warmup and 2 mile cooldown, I really ran 10 miles.

Like last year, the weather was sticky. I don't think the weather was quite as bad as 2005, but close. I didn't sleep well the night before, so that was another strike against me.

I started out pretty easy the first mile, but around the first mile marker I started pushing the pace. I felt my pace was pretty good until about mile 4 or so, when I started to run out of steam. But interestingly, according to the results, my 5K splits paces were only a second off from each other, so somewhere the paces evened out. I think I would have been better off trying to keep an even pace, though.

Between running programs and former co-workers, I saw a number of folks I knew. Thanks to Rick for running the first mile together.

Gory details of my run are on MotionBased.
