Sun's 2008 Corporate Social Responsibility Report is out!
Sun's 2008 Corporate Social Responsibility Report is hot off the presses everyone! See it here.
Despite a softening econonomy, folks here at Sun are still as committed as ever to making a difference in our industry, our communities and our planet. I am so proud of the efforts that Sun employees have made in volunteer hours, donations, green product designs and our earth-friendly open work policy, that drastically reduces travel miles and avoided 52,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide!
Some other highlights include:
* Surpassing goal of achieving a 20% reduction in U.S GHG emissions over 2002 levels by 2012
* All of Sun's top-tier contract manufacturers have signed and agreed to adhere to Sun's Code of Conduct for our supply chain.
* Participation in Worldwide Volunteer Week was up 84% in 2008.
Congrats to all the hard working folks at Sun and thank you for all the leadership and commitment to Change (Y)our World!
And remember that everyone can get involved in Eco work. Check out this cool video!

hello students
I just attended the National Hispanic MBA conference (NSHMBA) in Atlanta, where 9,000 people got together for career development and some good ole salsa dancing. Some of America's top companies sponsored the conference, including Sun Microsystems, whose brand was proudly displayed on the badges of thousands.
In addition, I got to meet students from all over the country who are eager to land their 2009 summer internships. The process of selecting and applying for internships begins now and many folks were curious about Sun's internship program.
I had the pleasure of working as a Sun intern this summer and continued to keep the role through the school year. While it is hard to juggle both a full time graduate program and work, the amount that I am learning and the fun I'm having, make it all worthwhile. So for all you interested students look no further than Sun's new Student Info page where resources abound regarding internship, career opportunities and great links.

The Birth of the Internet
The National Science Foundation which I found to be a great resource for stats on computer science majors created a really cool presentation on the birth of the internet. The footage is so interesting, especially the 60' and 70's shots of those giant monsters known as the first computers.

So worth your time to check it out:
