Conference update

The first session at Techcrunch50 this morning was on Youth & Entertainment and the startups that presented were Shryk, Hangout Industries, BlahGirls and Tweegee. The place was packed with the who's who of the tech celebs with of course Michael Arrington, Google's Marissa Mayer, Digg's Kevin Rose and Seesmic's  Loic Le Meur to name a few. The early demonstrations were mediocre, either lacking in viable business models or relying on celebrity pull for attention (BlahGirls). The startup that impressed me the most was Hangout Industries due to their seamless product placement and compelling user interface that stood out from the pack. The judges surprisingly seemed more than tickled with Ashton Kutcher's demonstration which to me lacked poise, consisted of bad bathroom humor and went almost two minutes past the time limit. Tonight I check out the Myspace party, email me for a full report on the open bar, DJ Sam Ronson and perhaps Lindsay Lohan sightings.
