OpenDS Access Control RequirementsQuestion: What is the best way to make sure that OpenDS meets your needs?Answer: Tell us what your needs are so we can take them into account when designing it. One of the biggest components that OpenDS currently lacks is the access control subsystem. Access control is a critical part of a directory environment, and we want to make sure that we get it right. To help with this, we've put together an access control requirements document that lists all of the features that we believe need to be included in our implementation. We'll be starting work on actually implementing the access control mechanism in the near future, but we are also very interested in any feedback that anyone might have on these requirements. You can find this list of requirements on our documentation page available in either OpenDocument or PDF form. If you have any interest in the access control features that OpenDS will provide, I would encourage you to look through this set of requirements and provide your comments on them. If you do have any feedback on anything in this document (or on anything that isn't in this document but should be), then please feel free to join the design-discuss@opends.dev.java.net mailing list and post your comments there. You can join this mailing list by going to https://opends.dev.java.net/servlets/ProjectMailingListList and clicking the "Subscribe" button for that list (currently, the design-discuss@opends.dev.java.net list is the last one listed on the page). Any feedback that you can provide will be greatly appreciated. We want to make sure that OpenDS meets the needs of those who might want to use it, and we will likely be starting other discussions on other components in the future.
