RC3 it might be, but OOo still has a critical bug not suitable for final release: it is unusable on Leopard systems with multiple users. It simply crashes instantly. I do not have bugzilla account, so I file my bug report here.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Install OOo (e.g. drag it into your application folder)
2) Log in as another user (also admin)
3) Try to open any file and see OOo go BOOM!

For the user who installed the app, it works perfectly fine.

Another thing, really obvious IMHO.

Moving cursor forward one word a time takes alt+forward, as it should be in a Mac.

Moving cursor forward one word a time while holding down SHIFT+alt+forward (selecting a word) does nothing. Instead, a SHIFT+option+forward works but option should move cursor to the end of the line instead.

Lots of polishing to do.

In a similar vein: I recall a situation in which an earlier version of OOo 3 would not launch from the (read only) disk image on a G5 PowerPC Power Mac.

That incident was memorable because it was (still is) my habit, whilst alpha and beta testing, to launch from read-only media; to check adherence to the rule 'an application should not write to itself'.

I did not file a bug report, mainly because that particular PowerPC went haywire not long afterwards, hard disk problems. It seemed inappropriate to file a software bug report based on certainly substandard hardware.

Prior to that I recall no problems with running from read-only media, which suggested to me that multiple users should not become an issue. But this should definitely be checked.

is a relatively friendly route to the tracker.

Certainly in the past I found the Bugzilla for OOo very daunting but nowadays, it seems to be much more graceful; auto-detecting various things, to expedite the reporting process.

I do recommend gaining for yourself an openoffice.org account, it's useful in areas other than the tracker.

Thanks for highlighting these issues.
