A couple of weeks ago I blogged about implementing the rowspan table model in the Writer core (see ' too complex to merge'). Now I'm back with some good news: It's done. Have a look at this screenshot:
In case you suspect me having faked this screenshot, I'd recommend to convince yourself by installing the recent developer snapshot . Of course we took care not to break compatibility with old documents: Tables containing subtables (which have been created by old versions of OpenOffice.org) will still be handled as such.
So get it, install it, test it! Feedback is very much appreciated, either by submitting a new bug or by using the Writer team mailing lists.

Great to see this - but I can't get at it!
I followed your link but was brought to the download page for build OOF680_m15 (installing as OOo-Dev2.2). After downloading, it seems that this doesn't have the new tables.
After a bit of poking around, it seems that the previously announced snapshot is the one I'm after going by the release notes I found (SRC680_m207 installing as OOo-Dev2.3.).
Would you mind telling me how to get at previous snapshots? Hopefully I haven't missed the boat...
Thanks again,
Marty

Thanks! I've downloaded it and the new tables seem to work great! This feature is going to be very useful to me, I've a project that was hanging for it...
Again, thanks for all the hard work,
Marty
