Get Busy! Get Creative!
It's finally here...the official begin of the prototyping phase of the Renaissance project. The call for design ideas in the form of proposals has been posted on the wiki. Please hurry and check it out. There are instructions and a schedule: deadline for submissions is May 4th!
Here is an excerpt from the wiki page (see wiki for full details):
In order to participate in submitting a design proposal, please follow these steps:
If you have any questions or comments at any time, please send a mail to the ui@ux.openoffice.org mailing list.
If you have great ideas, you won't want to miss this chance to be involved. Even if you aren't interested in designing a new user experience for accessing functionality, then pass this announcement on to your friends who might be.
Start working as an individual or as a team today and maybe your idea will be one that gets implemented in OpenOffice.org Impress!

Still no explanation about Oracle?

Hi Elizabeth,
till May 4th is not really a lot time. Moreover, this canal seems to be the only place promoting this possibility in the web. That's a pity since your surveys and other sources clearly show that people want a change in the interface of OOo/Impress. I guess there are many with good ideas out there.
No Shlashdot, LXer, ...?
The KOffice people had a "little" prize for the winner.

Do you see any option for a prize (e.g. an OpenOffice.org shirt, pen drive, ...)?
Since I'm not a good designer I cannot offer any proposals here, sorry.

Renaissance was announced a few months ago http://blogs.sun.com/GullFOSS/entry/project_renaissance_kick_off1 and since then the discussions have been great, often intense!
Wiki leads to the roadmap, http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Renaissance:The_Roadmap
If you'd like to catch up with things: http://www.diigo.com/04ipb highlights the relevant list.
Personally I'm using Nabble to catch up, http://n2.nabble.com/-f1803106.html

Hi Graham,
I know Renaissance project from the beginning since I follow http://blogs.sun.com/GullFOSS . I just wanted to say that some more publicity might be beneficial for the project. http://www.oooninja.com/ is a somebody who is providing quite good information besides the official canals. Something like that is what I mean.
BTW, thanks for the links. Some of them were unknown to me.
