What's new in Beta 2 of OOo 3.0?
Thorsten Ziehm

The release candidate for OOo 3.0 Beta 2 is available on OOo. Between the first Beta the teams worked very hard to fix issues, finalize translation and bring in some wanted 'last minute' features. In sum nearly 150 CWS were integrated with more than 650 issues.

The most visible and useful change is in CWS native156, Dictionaries as extensions. The Engineering Steering Committee nailed it down some times ago and now it is integrated. Dictionaries are available and pre-installed as Extensions. When the dictionaries are updated in the Extension Repository you will get automatically an update notification in your office.

The Extension Manager get also an update. Now it fresh, easier to handle the extensions and when your extension includes a provider link or special icon it will be shown. This was integrated with CWS extmgrui01.

If you want to check/test the new features, the testing page for OOo 3.0 is updated now.

Feel free to use the Beta 2 for your daily work. It should be very stable and usable for your daily work. If you find critical issues you are very welcome on the QA-mailing list ( qa@dev.openoffice.org).

Thorsten, thanks for the link! I noticed, however, the wiki page also goes to my site. :)
