Importance of Being Multi-Core

GridToday sits down with AMD on the need for multi-core processors in today's IT environments:

Essentially, she said, "The processor provides the underlying functionality for a lot of what happens on the system." Today's Grid environments are increasingly CPU- and memory-intensive, she noted, and the latest generation of processors is definitely addressing these issues. With multi-core chips, embedded memory and hardware hooks for virtualization, processors are being designed to maximize Grid and virtualized environments." Full Story
