The Blog Speaks

Hello. Let me introduce myself. My name is Blog. I realize that's a common name here in the blogosphere. My full name is Yvette's Weblog. You would think Yvette, my author, could come up with something a little more creative. She calls me "Bloggy", but that's rather embarrassing, so you can just stick with "Yo! Y-Blog" when you want to get my attention. Maybe Yvette will rename me when she figures out what she's doing. She's still learning the ropes, which makes me more than a little nervous. I'm at risk of being totally deleted! But let's not think about that. Today is my birthday, after all.

Here's a completely unprofessional photo of Yvette with an old laptop taken at a Halloween Party.

Yvette absolutely adores working at Sun. Why? Well, for one, it's full of those computers that she's crazy about. For another, Sun actually encourages her to think "out of the box", which is another way of giving her freedom to be totally "different" (or,to be blunt, "weird".) She's particularly excited about me, "Bloggy", because now she can reveal:

  1. All the cool stuff about working at Sun

  2. How completely off-the-wall or, in this case, ON-the-wall, she is

You know that expression, "If these walls could speak"? Well, each week, Yvette plans to help the walls (and other inanimate objects) find a voice and tell you what they're thinking. Today's my turn. What do I think about Sun? Well, heck, Sun is my creator! Without Sun, I wouldn't be in existence, at least not on this domain! There aren't many companies that trust their employees enough to open them up to the world of blogging. Sun encourages employees to speak out and honestly tell it the way it is...no marketing spin...just pure unadulterated blog-speak! What freedom! I can't tell you how lucky I feel to live in a domain that trusts me.

Now, the challenge will be for people to read me. Despite the revelation that Yvette has a "thing" for computers, she knows that Sun encourages diversity, and will not hold it against her. She's so used to trying to put up a front of being "a professional". It IS a little dangerous to let her loose through me, because, as you can clearly see, I am NOT very professional. Let me say, for the record, in case any of Yvette's management chain is reading, this unprofessionalism is all ME, Blog, desperately seeking attention and readership. Yvette is still the goody-two-shoes, hard-working, respectable, intelligent, brown-nosing employee that you've always known.

I'm lucky to be alive, but I need other blogs to talk to. I see tons of you good-looking blogs out there. Some of you are getting hit on all the time! I want to be popular and not just a lonely wallflower. So spread the word and come read what inanimate objects are thinking about Sun. I don't want to beg for comments, but I will tell you that I'm a blog that graciously knows how to accept a respectful comment. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Welcome, and nice to meet you! Isn't it great that even though we work for a corporation, we get to let our hair down and reveal our lighter side, too? I think having a little fun keeps us motivated and passionate about our jobs. You're off to a great start -- looking forward to getting to know you better!

"Let me say, for the record, in case any of Yvette's management chain is reading, this unprofessionalism is all ME, Blog, desperately seeking attention and readership. " Well "Blog", let Yvette know that a bit of unprofessionalism is a GOOD thing.. Tell her to relax a bit, life is too short !!

See, blog, I told you! Just like Java, feel free and get used to the Open World! As Bob states: Live is too short, so enjoy it. And, you know what? Some of the stuff in here will go the way of all living things... Sad as it is: They will vanishe sometime... So, life up to your task, tell us what the walls would tell!
