From May 24 to June 15, we have held OpenSolaris programming contest
roadshow in 19 China universities of 11 cities. Totally we have
introduced Solaris 10/OpenSolaris and Sun Studio 12 to over 2,500
students. Besides engaging students into the programming contest, we
have got endorsement from the computer science or software schools of
these universities. As a result, 19 representative (school leaders like
Vice Dean, Secretary or famous professors) gave the welcome address to
the contest roadshow and express their strong interests in the open
source technology promotion and encourage their students to register the
OpenSolaris programming contest. Besides, we have invited the OS
professors who attended our Solaris Course Training as the coach of
registrant team. Please stay tuned to the status of the contest.
At the beginning of the event, The university representative gave the welcome speech. During the two-hour event, we have introduced the programming contest, Solaris 10/OpenSolaris new features and demonstrate DTrace, Sun Studio 12 for Solaris programming. The agenda of the roadshow was as following:
1. Welcome speech by university representative
2. Sun - culture, technology and opportunity
3. Innovate with Solaris and Sun Studio 12

During the event, gifts (Solaris Books, T-shirt, Duke) were presented to students who gave right answers to our quizzes. Every attendee has received a set of OpenSolaris Starter Kit, a leaflet and a fan (printed with OpenSolaris contest introduction).
