Microsoft Office SharePoint & Outlook Web Access, Policy Agent 2.2

You can find links for Access Manager Policy Agent 2.2 for Microsoft Internet Information Services 6.0, both the download and the document, on my Policy Agent 2.2 Documentation and Downloads page. The truth is you could have found those links last week and last month, even last year. However, the download bits and the document have been updated. Now, IIS 6.0 agent can be used to protect Microsoft Office SharePoint & Outlook Web Access. By the way, the older version of the IIS 6.0 agent document is still available in PDF for those who have the older version.

This is good news. Sun and Microsoft love each other now. When I first got here, Sun and Microsoft, well, they didn't love each other. Now, it's all about making Sun products compatible with Microsoft products. This has been good for Sun so far, and for customers, it seems to me. Furthermore, there are a series of Sun articles written by Marina Sum that cover interoperability of Sun and Microsoft for Web authentication. You'll find tidbits in there not covered in the new or old IIS 6.0 agent guide, especially screen shots and such:

Okay so life is good. Can't we all just get along? Apparently, we can.

Interesting, but any chance of an updated version for OWA/Exchange 2007 and Sharepoint 2007?

Might be friends with MS now but still appear to be a few years behind :-(

As far as I can see, this is all about 2003 releases - we are about to deploy 2007 and would be interested to know how to integrate that.

Policy Agent for Microsoft IIS 6 is planned to be updated to support Windows 2007. However, the date isn't set at this point. I can't begin to guess when this will happen. It might be soon; it might not be.

Hi, Thanks for that but it wasn't quite what I meant :) I'm not quite sure what you mean by windows 2007 support.

We are deploying Exchange2007 and Sharepoint2007 (both on Windows 2003). The document details SharePoint Portal Server *2003* and Microsoft Outlook Web Access for Exchange Server *2003* - is it likely to be updated anytime soon for these products (which have been released for a while now - Windows 2008 is still pre-release so I wouldn't expect support for that)

Darren:

First, let me apologize for not making any sense whatsoever in my last comment. One should never pay attention to what I say, but rather to what I mean.

What is the key thing here that I don't know? It is indeed OWA 2007 and SharePoint 2007 that the Microsoft II 6.0 agent will protect at a future date. That future date is the key thing that I don't know. While there are many other things I don't know, I believe that is the key "unknown" of interest to you in terms of your interaction with me at this time.

Your question is "Is it likely to be updated anytime soon for these products?" The answer is, "Yes, it is likely, expected even, that the IIS 6.0 agent will be updated for OWA/SharePoint 2007, but exactly when, I do not know." After intense investigation, I have found that I can't get a definitive answer to this question. A conspiracy against me? I ask. I wouldn't be surprised.

heh, no problem :)

I'm a bit in the dark myself - but based on what I'm told by our windows/sharepoint people sharepoint 2007 is "different" to Sharepoint 2003 in the way it integrates with IIS. It does indeed run under IIS6 but they seem to think an agent might not be enough. Hence my question of is there a version of the doc coming that covers this potential issue (I'm out of my depth here - I'm a Solaris/JES person!)

I guess it's a wait and see what happens when the new agents appear :)

Thanks for you feedback

Hi,

Do we have a policy agent for iis 6.0 on 64 bit platform??
I checked the sun download site it mentions the X64 bit agent but it has no setup file just the .vbs scripts, is that correct??
I tried configuring the agent using these scripts but it does not protect the "web resource just gives some %1 is not a valid windows resource" error. Please suggest if there is a different method to configure agent on 64 bit platform with IIS 6.0

Regards,
Ajay
