Sunday July 27, 2008 Cardel Evans was able to make up some time on Carlos Sastre in the Tour de France but not enough to take the yellow jersey. Evans needed 1 min 34 secs to take the lead however he was able to only make up 29 secs and remains more than a minute behind going into the final stage in Paris.
The Australian Evans gave his all, however Sastre found that little extra to have the race of hs life in by far his best time trial. Evans had a bad day and he needed to win the time trial to win the race and I think the battle in the Alps had left Evans drained. Still a great perfrormace from the Australian.
Yeah, it's too bad Cadel couldn't win this year. Next year gets a lot more difficult because Contador will be back and CSC will be as strong as ever. Cadel still has a few more years left but his chances will diminish unless Silence-Lotto can put some more climbers around him.

Yep agree.. next year will be tough with Contador back and there are a number of young riders coming through. I think for Cadel to win he needs to win a stage in the mountains, that is where the Tour is won on lost and that is what he needs to concentrate on and a strong team is also key to that.
It will be interesting to see what he does, he may look to leave Silence Lotto to go to a stronger team.
