Check out this site . It's a journal of a woman's motorcycle ride through the dead zone of Chernobyl. Click on the chapter links at the bottom of the page to read through it.

The black Russian humour adds to the writing, but the photographs of a moment frozen in time speak for themselves.

Comments:

I thought I read these pictures were misreprented (read: "hoax")- namely that her story was at least partly fictional to make it sounds more dramatic than it was.

I could be mistaken- it would make an interesting Google'ing.

It did (make for interesting googling). I found some recent blogs that claim that it is partly a fraud, including an official looking statement from someone in Kiev. Too bad, I like the voice of the author, I had run into the site a couple of months ago and remembered it enough to go back to it and re-read it. The comment from the new hoster should have tipped me off. Why is it that we humans are fascinated by scenes of destruction? (ie. Pompeii).
