Those who have used our x64 line of servers know that they pack quite punch and their form factor belies the incredible performance delivered. Now, that is unsurprising considering our Engg talent and expertise in the area of systems design.
Some of the press coverage we received for our open high availability cluster confused the availability cluster with high performance computing clusters. I faced similar questions during my Sun Tech days presentation as well.
What does it do?
Sun Cluster provides highly availability for applications using hardware redundancy and takes automated decisions for fault recovery. It also provides a disaster recovery solution.
What it doesn't do?
It isn't a product that provides fault tolerance nor does it provide job scheduling - Grid Engine is the product for this task.
