Solaris Express, Developer Edition 1/08 or SXDE 1/08 is out! The Nevada build corresponding to the release is 79b.
What is new?
Project Webstack is the most commonly used components for webservices development namely Apache, MySQL, PHPoptimized for OpenSolaris. You can call it SAMP! Now bringing up this stack should take just a few minutes. And yes, it does include the PostgreSQL db also!
It includes support Ruby Projects. Also the JDBC driver for PostgreSQL is included!
Other highlights include:
- Interoperability with Microsoft's CIFS protocol.
- Support for virtual machines via Sun xVM hypervisor, based on technology developed by the Xen community.
- Sun HPC ClusterTools based on the Open MPI effort.
