If you are scratching your head wondering what the heck the title was meant to be, well, because of the change in packaging system used in OpenSolaris called Indiana (Image Packaging System), the Open HA Cluster community will have a new project called Colorado which will enable users to deploy a minimal cluster by pulling in only the required packages.

The proposal has received good support from the community.  There are quite a few challenges like change of K shell from ksh88 to ksh93 and other dependencies etc. 

There are 2 ways to disable the system beep/alert in Solaris:

 1.)  If you are using JDS desktop, do the following:

Launch --> Preferences -->  Desktop preferences --> Sound --> system bell --> Uncheck Sound an audible system bell.

2.)  From the command line, execute

/usr/openwin/bin/xset b 0
