A couple of people have asked about the file formats we're using in our Design Comics.  Here's the scoop:

The comics are set up as slide presentations, which is a format works well for sharing finished comics and in company presentations and walkthroughs.

The file format for the slides is Open Document Presentation (.odp), which is an open format used by applications such as StarOffice. Once you've loaded a file (in say, StarOffice) you can export it to PowerPoint and other formats. Or, just continue creating and editing in StarOffice, which you may find you like just fine.

So, to use the comic templates, download one of the following:
  • StarOffice (the exceedingly affordable office productivity application from Sun)
  • OpenOffice (a free version of the office productivity application for Solaris, Linux, and Windows)
  • NeoOffice (a free version available for the Mac).
