Does Sun's CEO read my blog?  Well, Jonathan's pretty busy. And so he must've accidentally missed my posting from today about "click here" as a worst practice, judging from the "click here" links in The Glamor in Mass Transit(?), e.g. paragraphs 4 and 12.

Of course, with Jonathan's blog, you know the links are likely to be interesting, so maybe you'll click on them even though they just say "click here."

hi Martin! I don't know if Jonathan reads your blog but I sure do and I'm sworn off of click-here's now. :)

Not everything is an advertisement.

Absolutely true. In fact *most* things on our web are not ads. The guidelines around "click here" still apply, though... whether a link is an ad or just useful context, it's always important for people to be able to tell at a glance what they're getting.

I run a fairly popular website and have been using Google's Webmaster Tools to see what words on other people's sites link to mine. "Here" is in the top ten, probably because of the evil phrase "click here". Run a quick search on here , it's interesting.
