Bobak Etminani, Creation Series, 1998-2002
|
Today, while reading a piece on Jackson Pollock, I couldn't help being reminded of this painting by my good friend, Bobak Etminani.
It is odd that Pollock, who is supposed to be the master of chaos in the school of abstract expressionism, is best known for his Blue Poles, a painting that speaks of a search for order more than of chaos. Bobak's work has gone a step further and seems to be pointing us to a direction and asking us to consider what that order might be.
I'm glad I had the good fortune of seeing this paining "live" while Bobak was exhibiting it in Oakland about three years ago. (Some of his other paintings can be found here.)
