Efficient Adaptation in Long-term Contracts
Here is a commentary
(PDF) I wrote in 2003 on “Efficient Adaptation in Long-term Contracts:
Take-or-Pay Provisions for Natural Gas” Scott E. Masten and Keith J.
Crocker (American Economic Review, vol. 75 (5), 1985).
If you want to make use of my commentary for a business school paper or otherwise, make sure you give an appropriate reference to it. In other
words, use the well-known, common principle: No plagiarizing!

OpenSolaris Starter Kit
I hear if you register for the Open Solaris community, you can get a "Starter Kit" sent to you for free!
Addendum: I think I should have said
"from the web site" rathar than "sent to you for free"! Things might
change, though. You never know. The OpenSolaris Starter Kit website
says: "Coming Soon….links to ISO images for the current Starter Kit…." If I find out more, I'll let you know.

Interactive Mathematics
The Interactive Mathematics
portal could be worth a visit for children. It seems to have used Java Applets for a good many of its puzzles and games. The problems are
quite simple but they can still be fun for kids and adults, too. Take
for example, the 3 jugs problem.
(It would have been ideal if this puzzle had been implemented to
include various number and sizes of jugs. Note that the 3 jugs version
includes all the essential mathematics behind the problem.) This site
is still heavier on the explanation side and
lighter on interaction. If you know an "open community" of math puzzles
(implemented as Java
Applets or by other means), feel free to leave the URL in the comment
section below.

San Jose Math Circle
A good friend of mine who works at Apple pointed me to San Jose Math Circle. He says the Math Cricle meetings
can be fun for kids who enjoy mathematics. Diverse set of topics,
mostly from geometry, are presented. For example, next week, Tom Davis
talks about "box packing problems".
