The Service-Oriented Perspective
For me, Object-Oriented perspective has always been an implementation perspective, from early on.
Service-Oriented perspective is an architectural perspective. Hence, the phrase "Service Oriented Architecture."
We already find the Service-Oriented perspective in the architecture of networking, with each layer providing services to the layer above it.
In fact, a good OO implementation should be able to make use of the service-oriented perspective in its implementation architecture.
In the Service-Oriented perspective, replaceability is the key objective.
Requiring asynchrony and loose coupling is simply another way of saying that components should be replaceable on demand, while the businesses, for which they are put together, still continue.
