Please look at my previous blogs on Application Server Plugin and the Provisioning of GlassFish in general to get an overview and details on the Application Server Plugin for N1SPS.

The Application Server Plugin allows you to install, install (markOnly), uninstall and uninstall (markOnly) the Load Balancer Plugin for Sun Java System Web Server 6.1 and 7.0 versions. You can also view the list of LB Plugin Installations. Here we will take a look on how to use the N1SPS Application Server Plugin to Install and Uninstall the Load Balancer Plugin.

Installation

Click on 'Infrastructure Tasks' on your left Pane and select 'Install' under 'Load Balancer Plugin' on the right Pane. You will see the following screen.



Now select the 'Target Hosts', the machine where you want to install the Load Balancer Plugin. Now you click on 'Edit Variable Set'. You will see a dialog where you need to fill in the values for LB Plugin sourceImage (the location to the downloaded LB Plugin bits), Web Server Installed and Web Server Instance location.


Once you are done with the above steps, click on 'Run'. This will take a while and you will see the status once the plan is run completely. You are now ready to use the Load Balancer.

Uninstallation

Let see how to do the uninstall of the existing Load Balancer Plugin.

Click on 'Infrastructure Tasks' on your left Pane and select 'Uninstall' under 'Load Balancer Plugin' on the right Pane. You will see the following screen. Select the Load Balancer on the machine you want ot uninstall. Click 'Run Selected Installation'.



Click on 'Run' on the next screen, this will uninstall the Load Balancer Plugin from the selected hosts.
