Pricelisted Sun IB Hardware

Folks may be wondering about InfiniBand (IB) hardware that Sun sells directly. IB hardware products are listed on the Sun website here. (Of course, there is third party stuff which can work with Solaris too.) On the software side, Solaris support was previously mentioned here.

First off is the Host Channel Adapter (HCA). The Sun HCA currently being offered is a low profile card based on the Mellanox InfiniHost MT23108 with 256MB of card memory. This HCA has dual 4x copper (CX-4) ports and a PCI-X (133Mhz) bus interface. This card is IB v1.1 compliant.

The current Sun IB Switch is based on a Sun designed chip. The switch has 9 ports (usable either as 12x or 4x), a Sun designed embedded Subnet Manager (SM) and hot swap power supplies and fans. The switch is capable of 540 Gbps of switching bandwidth, so all ports should be able to operate in both directions at full bandwidth at once. The switch (and SM) is IB v1.1 compliant.
