If you haven’t explored Java ME, what are you waiting for? There's a vast new market waiting to be tapped.
This week on SDNtv, we look at Vringo and Amobee, two companies in the mobile space that demonstrated their cutting-edge applications at JavaOne. Both exhibitors explain how using Java technology is a necessity in the mobile arena.
Vringo announced their first Java application for video ringtone sharing at JavaOne. According to the company, the ringtone market is already worth $6 billion, a figure that will grow rapidly as video ringtones become more popular.
"If you want a mass-market audience, you need to be on Java," says John Medved, CEO of Vringo. In addition to its ubiquity, Medved says Java has the added benefit of being a great application development platform.
Ziv Eliraz, VP of Strategic Alliances at Amobee, says much the same about why his company relies on Java technology. Amobee offers solutions that enable ad-based business models within mobile applications and services.
Amobee chose Java ME because it allows the company to reach as many users as possible. "If you want to work in a carrier environment, you have to support Java," says Eliraz.
And stay tuned to SDNtv for more from JavaOne.
