Guest Host: Barton George
Guest: Jono Bacon, Ubuntu Community Manager
Be sure to watch this week's interview with guest host, Barton George as he talks with Jono Bacon, the Ubuntu Community Manager. With over 160 LoCo (local community) teams across the world, the Ubuntu Comminity is one of the most enthusiastic groups of developers striving to deliver really good technology to users.
Find out what it takes to be a community manager for such a passionate community...everything from the organizational structure to building user groups. But in the end, it all boils down to helping developers work together to achieve common goals. So, if you are a technical developer and would like to get involved, Jono has some great recommendations. I got a kick out of the discussion on packaging. Did you know that you too can become a Master of the Universe? All you have to do is learn how to package in the MoTu (Masters of the Universe) sandbox. It's all very He-Man...and that's just the beginning.
Check out LUGRADIO a no-holds barred and widely popular British radio show that takes a wry and often irreverent look at Linux and Open Source. Jono and 3 friends are now in their 5th season. The language on the show may offend some, so consider yourself warned.
And if you like the LUG radio style you'll want to check out either LugRadio Live USA 2008, April 12 - 13th in San Francisco, CA or LugRadio Live UK 2008, July 18-19th in Wolverhampton, UK. Both will feature an amazing line-up of Free and OpenSource luminaries. Check out the complete list of speakers for San Francisco (The final speaker list for the UK has not yet been finalized).
And finally, Barton joins the Geek Gadget Guru, Greg Posten and they take a look at the Airlink Office NAS. If you in the market for network attached storage this might be just the ticket.
