Innovators Grant: Submission Deadline Extended!
There is still time to submit a proposal for the open-source project of your dreams–and be awarded a grant (US$ 11,500 or 2,000!) for implementing it! Bruno Souza announced that the submissions deadline was extended to this Friday (March 7, 2008) to allow more countries to participate. We already got over 100 submissions for innovative plugins, programming books, localization projects, and web and desktop applications. Sun Releases Niagara2 Specificiations to the Open Source Community!
Yesterday, we released the specifications of the UltraSPARC T2 processor, formally code named Niagara 2, to the open-source community. The goal of releasing Niagara 2 into the open-source community, through the General Public License, is to create a larger community around the chip and increase the number of operating systems and applications that can use the processor. Ask the Experts: Mobile Service Architecture (MSA)
Mobile Service Architecture (MSA) is a Java ME optional package that defines the next-generation Java ME platform and serves as a follow-on to Java Technology for the Wireless Industry (JTWI).
In this Ask the Experts session, Mikhail Gorshenev, Sun's lead for the JSR 248 technology conformance kit (TCK), E-Ming Saung, product line manager in the Java ME marketing group, and Hinkmond Wong, one of the current project owners of the phoneME open-source project, answered a variety of questions about the Symbian OS and the Location API, fragmentation, MSA Advanced and smartphones, and more.
