A sys admin from the BigAdmin community posted this tech tip on our wiki. Here is one way to create a bootable DVD or CD for the Solaris 10 OS on x86 platforms, which you can then use for system recovery and bare-metal rebuilds.

Want to Upgrade to the New Solaris 10 Release?
A blog entry by Bob Netherton, "What's New in Solaris 10 10/09," discusses new features in the Solaris 10 10/09 release and talks about improvements in the SVR4 package commands (for example, pkgadd, pkgrm, and pkginfo). Also, sun.com has good info on the Upgrade to Solaris 10 page, plus a list of new features in What's New in Solaris.

HPC Profiling with the Sun Studio Performance Tools
Sun Microsystems' Marty Itzkowitz and Yukon Maruyama describe how to use the Sun Studio Performance Tools to understand the performance issues in single-threaded, multi-threaded, OpenMP, and MPI applications, and the techniques used to profile them. This paper was originally presented at the Third Parallel Tools Workshop held in Dresden, Germany in September.
