More on Honeycomb -- Sweet!
The StorageTek 5800 system (also known as Honeycomb) is the first commercially available open source fixed content storage system. Based on the Solaris 10 OS, this is also the first storage appliance with embedded meta-data tagging, for efficient search and retrieval.
Sun is donating the source code for the Sun StorageTek 5800 system to three core communities: the OpenSolaris community, the Java.Net community, and the Storage Networking Industry Association for use with standards developments.
Get the StorageTek 5800 source code from the OpenSolaris Project: Honeycomb Fixed Content Storage.
