Ice Age - Rendered w/Sun Constellation System
The new movie, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, was rendered with a good number of Sun Blade X6250's. The Sun Blade X6250 is a two socket blade, each socket has a Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor. Blue Sky studios rendered the movie using 480 of these blades, in 10 of the 6048 chassis. Rendering is a cpu and memory intensive task. If we assume the movie is about 1 hour and 30 minutes in length, then a total of (at 30 frames/sec) 162,000 frames must be rendered. This would be the for the final rendering, after all of the interactive work, on Sun Ultra workstations was complete. To view the press release - View Here.
