Sun Constellation System - Core Component - QNEM
Another very important component of the Sun Constellation System is the Sun Blade 6048 Infiniband Quad Data Rate Switched Network Express Module, or QNEM for short. Designed to work in the 6048 rack, the QNEM is both a leaf switch for QDR IB, as well as a pass through GbE device. The QNEM has 30 ports of QDR capacity, and 24 ports for Gigabit Ethernet. Inside of the QNEM are two Mellanox QDR communication chips. The QNEM takes of two NEM slots in the back of the 6048 chassis, and provides the connectivity for clusters scaling up to over 5000 nodes.
