Cool.

Matt works in Sun Fed.  Matt works with many three letter agencies.  Matt has such high security clearance, the process to get it would probably cause most of us to have a nervous breakdown.  What would happen if Matt lost or had his Accutech Gobi8 Sun Ray laptop stolen?  Nothing.  It's a nice door stop for the person who uses it next.

The Gobi-8 is the perfect laptop.

Isnt the solution to provide software to allow any laptop/desktop to make a connection with the Sun Ray Server.....

What ever happened to Soft Ray - Was this all just hype ?

Robert,
And what happens to the data that *will* get stored on said laptop/desktop? The soft client is on the roadmap, but we customers we are working with to ensure that it is done correctly for their security needs.

The Ray and SRSS are such perfect pieces of engineering. Being in the UK and with limited access to laptops such as the Gobi, it seems that the Soft Client is the way to go. Wont something like this open up thin clients to so many more people. It's like Mr Jobs and his OSX. Surely grey x86 OSX has to be on its way.

Surely the soft ray client wouldnt allow you to store anything on the host computer.

Not Data from the Sun Ray Server, but eventually sensitive data always seems to find it's way on to computers. There are other security concerns such as the laptop/PC being compromised prior to loading some soft of soft client. We are working on it. You're sales rep can give you the NDA roadmap and fill you in on exactly where we are. In fact the person in charge of the product from a PM standpoint is in the UK.

Thanks. Am delighted to know that it could be here one day. Don't have a sales rep as I'm just a lone end user who uses the Rays for my own use at home. I'll keep a watchful eye on the website for progress.
