How is your VirtualBox product compatible with xVM Server and/or xVM Ops Center? They seem to be completely different and incompatible? Would it not be useful to be able to run a VirtualBox virtual machine (e.g. OpenSolaris) on xVM Server? Is this possible? If so, how come I never heard about it?

Kevin,

Great question, and many people agree that your described scenario is truly compelling.
Imagine a developer building a Web 2.0 solution using OpenSolaris or Linux as a guest on their MacBook Pro laptop before pushing the guest "live" to a datacenter managed by Ops Center.

At present, this can't be done as seamlessly as desired (maybe that's why you have never heard about it ;-) ) but this is an obvious route forward.

Thanks for the feedback - really this would be a "killer application" for VirtualBox, and a great way for services like Sun's own network.com to host Web 2.0 businesses:

1) I develop a cool service as a VirtualBox virtual machine
2) I upload it to network.com and point a domain at the virtual machine
3) I provide network services (web, database, email, whatever)

I really hope Sun goes down this road and ties VirtualBox with xVM Server and cloud computing concepts. For example, I might want to run 100 or 1000 instances of my VirtualBox virtual machine on network.com to serve a particular event. I guess this is similar to Amazon's Web Services EC2.
