UStream Challenge
Sunday Nov 30, 2008
This morning on Twitter I commented that it was snowing here in Colorado. One of my co-workers mentioned that I should stream it. My initial response was that I don't know how to use UStream.tv, and that I don't have a web cam. I technically do have a camera in my MBP, but was not too thrilled about figuring how to hold my notebook up to the window so the video could stream.
I then remembered that I had an iSight around here someplace. My original PowerBook did not have a built in camera and I used to use an iSight. A brief search and I found the box. The next challenge was getting the iSight set up so it had a good view out the window. Ironically it mounted perfectly on top of a picture that I have sitting on my desk.
Off to UStream.tv. It was very easy to set up an account, but as I feared it started the streaming from the built in camera. I noticed some drop down, and surprisingly, it had detected my iSight and all I had to do was select it.
My Sunday morning challenge has been met, and I am streaming live on the Internet. I don't know how long I will leave the channel up, nor how long the snow will keep falling which was the original point of the stream, but for now you can see out the window of my office.
Enjoy the view!
