v240 Firmware upgrade

Saturday Jun 16, 2007

So I was given a v240 to get ready for a customer demo. I tried to install Solaris 10 on it and I got an error.  Uncle Google says it is old firmware and to upgrade.

Umm... okay rolling up the sleeves to see if I can figure it out.

Figured out if you type .version at the ok prompt it will tell you what version you have.

Now I have found the latest firmware. You need to have a sunsolve account to get it.  The readme says that you have to have at least ALOM 1.2. I have 1.0. Looks like you can move forward with the firmware, but you will get an amber light until you upgrade the ALOM.

Following the directions in the install.info for the firmware upgrade
I have put the flash update at this path:
    /121683-05/flash-update-SunFire240

After a bit I get a happy message:
    Programming was successful.

 ok  .version

Well I know have a v240 firmware update under my belt!
