Suave JavaOne Schedule

Apr 30 2007, 01:23:20 PM PDT »Java Comments [6]

The JavaOne schedule builder has been improved since last year, and it is now easier to resolve conflicts. This is much appreciated. However, the builder should have been written in Java or AJAX to limit the time required to reload the page after adding a session.

Anyways, I just finished building my schedule, and I found the print option to be somewhat lacking. However, I also mailed the schedule to myself and that version did not include all the headers. After printing the mail in two-pages-per-sheet mode, I noticed that I could fit it in my trusted moleskine® notebook:

JavaOne schedule in notebook.

I apologize about the quality; my real camera was stolen on my way to FOSDEM 2007. This picture is from my Razr V3.

Is it just for me or Schedule Builder actually keep it secret where all the sessions are happening?

All of the sessions are in San Francisco; most in Moscone Convention Center ;-)

Umgh. Close enough, but wouldn't it be nice to know the actual room inside Moscone? :-)

Peter, adding the item is actually fast, so what I do is: press add and then cancel. I don't see that I booked the session but it's much faster...

Eugene, the room a session will be scheduled in depends on how many will be in the audience. It can range from 10 partipants to over a thousand, so they naturally wait as long as possible so they know which sessions will be the most popular.

While the schedule builder is a better than last year, it still leaves a lot to be desired. What a great opportunity to showcase Java and all that is cool about the platform. Seems like such a waste to me.
