Sun Java System Web Server 7.0 installation demo


Sun Java System Web Server 7.0 has a simple installation procedure and it is possible to get the Web Server up and running very quickly.
Web Server 7.0 provides an all-new graphical installation mode which walks us through the  installation process and  prompts for the installation information and preferences. It also provides an express installation mode which enables us to quickly install theWeb Server using the most common options and predefined defaults(for port, hostname and JDK installation).
In this demo I will show how to install the Web Server using the custom installation mode, which provides us flexibility in customizing the installation.
The demo is about 3.3 MB in size and requires a flash plug-in for the browser.

The jdk directory is set to a non existent user:group - all other directories appear fine.. The server does not start: error: ./startserv Sun Java System Web Server 7.0-Technology-Preview-2 B06/19/2006 17:16 warning: CORE3283: stderr: Error occurred during initialization of VM warning: CORE3283: stderr: Could not reserve enough space for object heap catastrophe: CORE4005: Internal error: unable to create JVM failure: server initialization failed -------------------- I set the jdk directory to root;root and then to the owner:group the server runs as, both did not resolve start failure. Solution??
