Building a Docs Community is a feature on the NetBeans Community Docs in the NetBeans Zone.
It contains background information on the program-its growth and how well the community worked together to take the project into new vistas.
Being involved with the program for almost a year now (11 months) and seeing it grow, I have a feeling this could be something other Open-Source projects could follow and the benefits are IMO, two-fold:
- Being a documentation project, makes it easy for newbie contributors to contribute to the project and Open-Source in general
- Build up a large repository of quality of documents- for the community, by the community
