This release of the Java desktop and browser runtime is all about making it lighterweight, quicker to install, startup and support great looking, fast performing graphically rich applications. Furthermore some new look and feel features including native graphic acceleration on Windows Vista using Direct3D for faster graphics and a new Swing look and feel called Nimbus, written in vector graphics for great display at any resolution, for developers who like their apps to have a distinctive look uniform over any OS.
