Some of the coolest things coming out of Sun come from the developer tools and services team. For example, Zembly which - among other things - applies the concepts of social computing to developer environments. I am of course not doing it justice - there are some very cool features and the technical savvy of this thing is impressive.

Built using Sun's technical assets like JavaEE, GlassFish, MySQL, and utilizing Network.com's datacenter and Sun hardware Zembly is the first Facebook developement environment. But you can also use it to build applications for iPhone, Meebo and OpenSocial.
